A three-year-old boy has been taken to hospital after he was found unresponsive in a backyard swimming pool in Seven Hills, in western Sydney.

Emergency services were called to reports of a near-drowning at a June Street property about 12pm today.

Neighbours performed CPR on the boy, and paramedics continued the treatment when they arrived.

He has since been taken to The Children's Hospital at Westmead in a stable condition.

Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident.

Seven Hills is about 34km west of the Sydney CBD.
