Toddler hit by van fighting for life in hospital

A three-year-old boy is fighting for his life in hospital after he was hit by a van in Sydney’s north-west.

He suffered critical injuries in the crash on Bygrave Street in Ryde about 5pm yesterday.

Paramedics rushed the boy to The Children’s Hospital at Westmead under police escort.

The driver of the van, a man in his 60s, was taken to Ryde Hospital for blood and urine testing.

He is assisting police with enquiries.
