Todd Carney's mum speaks for the first time

The NRL's most patient mother, Leanne Carney, has spoken for the first time about a lewd photo of her son, Todd, which led to his sacking at the Cronulla Sharks.

Originally, the day after Carney's infamous 'bubbling' photo went viral he told Nine News he had only texted his mother who was "too disappointed" to talk.

"He's not great … he's as good as you would expect," Mrs Carney told The Sunday Telegraph.

When as whether her son was planning to seek out a career overseas, Mrs Carney said she "didn't think so".

"But he hasn't really made any decision regarding his future yet," she said. "Things are still up in the air.

Mrs Carney also mentioned that he son has asked her not to speak with the media but added that "I will say more eventually, I'd like to have our say".

Contrary to original reports that Carney was planning on skipping town to avoid the media, it is understood the Dally M Award recipient is still holed up at his home in Sydney.
