Local councils paying attention as over a million complaints made

Victorians have been outed as some of Australia's biggest complainers, according to recent data from Snap Send Solve.

The phone app enables users to report local issues like dumped rubbish, potholes and dodgy parking, alerting the relevant authorities to the problem.

And with over one million Aussies jumping on the app to dob in a dodgy neighbour in the past year, founder Danny Gorog said other states are quickly jumping on board as well.

"New South Wales is on the rise and Western Australia is actually our fastest growing state in terms of usage," he told Today.

"But overwhelmingly Victorians made over half a million complaints last year to local councils and other authorities responsible for our communities."

While these figures may make users sound like a bunch of whingers, Danny said having an app like Snap Send Solve actually gets these matters solved a lot quicker than more traditional methods like phoning local council.

In fact for regular user Gabi, who has clocked up a whopping 784 reports since downloading the app, she said the issues she raises get the relevant authorities' attention.

"The good news is, when you report it, it gets solved pretty quickly," she said.

"It's like you wave a magic wand, you report stuff through this app and within seven to 10 days it gets solved."
