The Today team face-off with Barry Hall in punch battle

The Today hosts have faced off against boxing powerhouse Barry Hall to see who packs a bigger punch.

Hall will go head-to-head against fellow superstar Sonny Bill Williams next Wednesday in Stan Sport's exclusive Turf War event.

With all the hype around the Australia-first event, Karl, Brooke and Alex wanted to see how they measured up against Barry, who was in the studio while Sonny Bill watched on from his Sydney gym.

So a punch power machine was brought into the studio to see just who could hit the hardest between the Today team and Barry.

"I've seen you practicing before, so I haven't got anything to worry about," a confident Barry assured Karl.

Ally is still recovering from a recent surgery so she cheered on from the sidelines.

First to the bag was newsreader Alex, who managed to pack on a score of 7274 on the punch power machine.

Next up was Brooke, who scored 1500 followed by Karl who managed a 7242, just under Alex's top score so far.

Finally Barry had a turn, as Karl, donning a Sonny Bill t-shirt, tried to heckle him.

"This will be really embarrassing if you don't win Barry," Karl said.

But the heavyweight showed exactly what he's got when he managed a score of 8370 - beating the Today team.
