But working out which exercises are right for you can be difficult, so we've asked personal trainer and owner of Mummy Trainer, Sarah Male, to break it down.

She's put two Aussie mums to the test to see what burns the most calories, but the key to well rounded fitness could be combining a few different practices.

Sarah burned 500 calories and boosted her heart rate to 191.

Meanwhile, Heidi burned 180 calories with her heart rate peaking at 118.

Her latest clients are Heidi Patenaude and Sarah Allen, both mums in their 30s, who want to get back to their pre-baby fitness levels.

So which one is best? The short answer there is not just one exercise that can do it all.

Instead, it is about taking a little bit of each and creating a supersession.

"High interval training is great because you can put in that strength component as well while keeping that heart rate up," Sarah said.

"So that's probably your best go-to if you're only going to pick one thing.

Gold Coast pilates instructor Natalie Dickson is still offering that flexibility, even though her studio is back to operating as normal.

"A lot of people are ready to move their bodies after being in lockdown for so long but also there's just that little bit of fear factor of coming in and being social again," Natalie said.

That is why 20 per cent of her clientele every week are still taking part in virtual sessions.

She has also created a virtual studio with full classes.

"They like the freedom of when they're going to practice as well."
