He’s The Voice contestant who followed up a powerhouse audition with a marriage proposal, but Nathan Brake has revealed to Today that he is in no rush to walk down the aisle.

The 26-year-old says he and partner Mitchell are waiting until The Voice is finished before finalising wedding plans.

“We haven’t set a date yet just because of everything that’s going on with the show, we thought it would be better to roll with the punches see where we end up,” he told Today.

When the couple of six years do start organising their nuptials, they’ll need to keep in mind the availability of The Voice coach Kelly Rowland. The Destiny’s Child singer offered to sing her hit ‘Love Takes Over’ at the wedding.

But Nathan says there’s no pressure on Kelly to keep her promise. “Who am I to hold Kelly Rowland to anything,” he laughed. “If she would love to perform at my wedding I would love to have her, it would be my privilege.”

Despite Kelly’s offer, Nathan, who sang the Nick Jonas song ‘Jealous’ at his The Voice audition, chose to join Team Delta because he is keen to learn from her local experience.

“I have grown up loving Delta, like she is exactly to me the epitome of an Australian artist,” he explained. “She has that career that myself and other contestants going on the show really strive for. For me it was a no-brainer.”
