The job sectors that are booming in the pandemic

Outbreak after outbreak, lockdown after lockdown and Australia's economy and labour force has suffered greatly over the last 18-months.

Business confidence has taken a huge hit causing a major shift across some sectors.

But on the show this morning, Today finance expert Effie Zahos revealed some sectors are booming amid the COVID chaos.

"The big one is media and communication. The reason is the content, digital content that's been thrown out," she said, adding education and construction are also doing well.

"Construction doesn't surprise me. You have to remember the HomeBuilder scheme ended. You have a whole lot of work that has to go through the pipeline."

One of the "surprising" findings is healthcare is down.

"There's a number of reasons there," Zahos said.

"A lot of people find that area very stressful, moving out, but also the huge highs that transient kind of demand is being subsided a little bit as we move forward."
