Tasmanian senator Jacqui Lambie has described the treatment of those living and working in aged care as "woeful".

The comments came in the fallout of aged care and sports minister Richard Colbeck declining a COVID committee meeting and attending an Ashes Test instead.

Ms Lambie flagged concerns about a lack of personal protective equipment and the vaccine rollout.

The senator also questioned whether the $800 bonus payments to support workers were enough to make them stay in the sector.

"This is absolutely shocking. Aged care is in crisis," she told Today.

Ms Lambie called for more action following the Royal Commission into Aged Care.

"Come on guys, we've been in tears watching a Royal Commission... and still hardly anything has been done or fixed," she said.
