Sydney club faces closing thanks to neighbour noise complaints
A pub in Sydney's Inner West could be closed permanently after repeated noise complaints from neighbours.
The Great Club has been a popular nightspot in Marrickville since 1952, but because of ongoing reports to authorities, they've been pushed to the brink.
Club owner Alison Avron told Today it is just three neighbours taking issue with noise in the carpark, but she has faced criminal proceedings because of the complaints.

"It was awful, especially coming out of COVID-19," Avron said.
"January is generally a pretty quiet month for venues, but they wanted amendments made, upwards of $250,000 in soundproofing."
She said "authorities have been unnecessarily heavy-handed" because of the three complaints and it is "a beautiful venue, most neighbours actually like".
"It's family-friendly, you can bring the kids, the dogs. It's a beautiful environment but these three people don't like it," she said.
