Sarah Abo almost spills coffee over new co-host

Karl Stefanovic is on leave this week so his co-host Sarah Abo welcomed fill-in replacement James Bracey in true Sarah form - by nearly spilling her coffee on him.

The 9News Sydney sport presenter said he had been warned of some of the "quirks" he may encounter from his co-hosts at the Today desk, but Sarah's bad case of Mondayitis definitely took the cake.

"Things got a little bit hairy before the show started," James warned viewers before showing the off-air footage.

A blushing Sarah watched on as the video showed her hand knock her cup over, spilling coffee across her laptop and splashing a little on James.

News and entertainment presenter Brooke Boney's face said it all as she watched on in shock and a strategically placed beep filtered out the expletive coming from Sarah's mouth as it happened.

"Oh no we've got 30 seconds! Quick everybody all hands on deck," Sarah panicked as she tried to wipe as much of the spilt coffee as she could with tissue before the show went live.

"When you get a new Karlos this is what happens," James laughed, as he tried to air out his co-host's laptop.

Later on, Sarah was able to joke her laptop "just needed a caffeine boost" to wake up and she was here to help.

"Just keeping you on your toes Bracey," she said.
