Today viewers wake to brand new hosting line-up

Today viewers woke up to a very different looking line-up at the desk this morning, with Sam Armytage and Dan Anstey taking the reins this week.

Sam was recently welcomed back to the Nine family as host of new dating program The Golden Bachelor, which will premiere in the new year.

And the acclaimed journalist is of course no stranger to breakfast television after hosting Seven's Sunrise alongside David Koch from 2013 until 2021.

"It's funny where you end up sometimes," she smiled after Dan made the irony of The Lion King's hit song Circle of Life, which played in the background as the show opened.

"Isn't it lovely to be on channel Nine? Hi guys, good morning, it's nice to be here and nice to look at this new team."

Dan is of course no stranger to the Today studios, as a regular weather presenter on Weekend Today.

Although, instead of his regular on-the-road get-up of a t-shirt and shorts and sometimes flip-flops - Dan was rocking a suit and tie for his new gig.

"Dan Anstey, nice to see you, nice to meet you - well, we met at Melbourne Cup, didn't we?" Sam said.

But ever the prankster, Dan joked his memory was a little hazy after Cup Day celebrations.

"I can't remember that now," he said.

"You may have confused me with another Dan."

Melbourne reporter, Iza Staskowski, joins them in Jayne Azzopardi's news presenter seat and Australia's most decorated female Paralympian, Ellie Cole returns as sports presenter while Alex Cullen is off for the holidays.

"I'm not wearing my 'L' plates today, that's for sure," she said.

"Well, you're the old girl here, you know what you're doing - you're the boss today, so you can direct traffic," Sam smiled.
