Apollo 11

It's the documentary that tells of an incredible chapter in mankind's greatest adventure. As astronauts Buzz Aldrin, Neil Armstrong, and Michael Collins head for the moon. The film marks the 50th anniversary of the historical Apollo 11 mission, using hundreds of hours of recently discovered 70mm footage and thousands of hours of voice recordings.

The 93-minute film follows the mission from pre-launch to successful landing - oops, spoiler alert! As well as the return of the Apollo 11 command module.

As wondrous as it is fascinating, the documentary is an incredible piece of film making that documents that small step for man but giant leap for mankind. 

It is well worth seeking out.

The Lion King

The latest Disney classic to get a remake is in cinemas from today.  

The Lion King follows story of Simba, the prince of the pride lands who was born to be the Lion King. Of course, it is a rough journey to follow in his father's foot steps - his uncle Scar plotting to derail his destiny.

Again, the technology involved in creating this remake, 25 years since the original, using photo realistic computer animation is wondrous.

Director Jon Favreau, who also remade The Jungle Book, has assembled a top notch voice cast, with man of the moment Donald Glover as Simba, and Beyoncé as Nala. James Earl Jones is replaceable as Mufasa and Chiwetel Ejiofor is the dastardly Scar. Billy Eichner and Seth Rogen voice Timon and Pumbaa.

This is as close as it gets to the perfect family film, taking a much-loved classic and giving it a twist and a new coat of polish and love.
