Today's Jack Hahn was in Hawaii this week, to showcase just how much fun winning that many points could get you.

And thanks to the generosity of Australia's favourite airline, Today were able to surprise the McCanns, who a holiday couldn't come at a better time for.

Claire, Justin and their sons, Oliver and Lewis, thought they were on this morning's show as finalists in the Qantas 500,000 frequent flyer points competition.

"Justin has just been diagnosed with stage four bowel cancer, so we need to make some family memories now, while we can," an emotional Claire told Today.

But while they thought they were just in the running to win the half a million frequent flyer points, Karl and Sarah had another idea.

"We said we were calling finalists this morning, but guess what? We have just called the winner - congratulations, you just won your Qantas points to go anywhere you like," the hosts revealed.
