Puppy reunited with pet store after brazen theft

A Sydney pet store is breathing a sigh of relief this morning after it was reunited with a stolen puppy that was missing for nine days.
CCTV from the Pets Town store in Chatswood Westfield shows two young women, one of whom is seen brazenly shoving Pickles the pup under her shirt before the pair leave the store with him.

Staff member Izzy Klein told Today it was a huge relief to have Pickles back safe and unharmed.
“He is doing very well and thankfully he was well looked after,” Klein said.
“He is nice and healthy and has been vet-checked and doesn’t seem too fazed by the whole thing.”
Klein’s co-worker, Jess, said the staff were quick to realise what had happened and went to Westfield security, who alerted police the moment they knew something had happened.
“The police were here within 10 minutes, ready to start the investigation, they were very involved and took a lot of care in the process,” she said.
Klein said the staff were scared when they didn’t hear anything for the first couple of days, not knowing what might happen to Pickles or what the thieves intentions were.
“There were some sleepless nights while he was away from us, but after about a week we did hear the police had potentially found him,” she said.
“So I sent a couple more photos and it turns out he was actually located in Nelson Bay, so about two and a half hours away.”
Jess said the puppy playpen will remain in store for now, so customers and puppies alike can enjoy the interaction.
“But all staff have been notified and we will be watching like a hawk to make sure something like this doesn’t happen again,” she said.
