Multiple states hit with snow and blizzards before summer
A burst of cold weather has brought blizzards to NSW and Victoria just five days before the official start of summer.
The Bureau of Meteorology said NSW was in a "state of extremes" as snow fell on Thredbo and Perisher, while other parts of the state experienced sweltering weather.
"Currently snowing and zero at Thredbo... and reached a sizzling 39 degrees at Tocal in the Hunter (region)," they tweeted.

Perisher in NSW received 18cm of snow in just a few hours and the Blue Mountains was dusted with snow as well.
Mount Bulla in Victoria was also hit with a late spring snow fall.
The drop in temperatures is due to a large cold front moving through Australia's southeast.
While chilly conditions are forecasted over the coming days, no more snow is forecast.
