A New Zealand mum has broken the Guinness World Record for the fastest barefoot sprint across 100 metres of LEGO bricks.

Dr Gabrielle Wall told Today she was aiming for 45 seconds and was stoked when she managed the feat in just 24.75 seconds.

"I think I probably ran faster than I would on a regular path just to get it over with," she laughed.

After a health scare a couple years ago, Wall said she was looking for more fun and innovative things she could tick off her bucket list, and while most parents dread the thought of stepping on a stray LEGO brick on the floor, she thought it would be fun to run across tens of thousands of them.

"I had a wee kiddie pool in the garage with training LEGO in it and I liked to stomp around on it with my eyes closed and pretend I was stomping on grapes for wine," she said.

Originally, Wall wanted to attempt the challenge with her son, but because Guinness has an 18-plus age rule, she said he is going to come for her record in five years.

Karl Stefanovic was intrigued by Wall's accomplishment and wanted to have a crack himself.

It was only a few dozen bricks on the Today studio floor, but check out how he did in the video above.
