New Year’s Eve alternatives the family will enjoy

QUEENSLAND

• Broadwater Parklands, SOUTHPORT
  From 5pm there will be Food Truck Feast and fireworks about 9pm. FREE event  
• ‘Soul Street’, BYRON BAY

  The main street of Byron Bay will shut down for this alcohol-free, family-friendly street party. There are family and youth friendly activities in the centre of town, including live entertainment. This is a free event starting around 4pm until midnight.

• Kings Beach Amphitheatre, CALOUNDRA

There will be kids rides and amusements, food stalls, and a screening of ‘Despicable Me 3’ from 7pm, before families can enjoy a 9.30pm Fireworks display. 

NEW SOUTH WALES

• Waterfront, GOSFORD

  Gosford Council is holding a Carnival-style event and Twilight Race Day, starting from 12noon. Live entertainment and fireworks display will follow the day’s entertainment at this free event.

• The Harbour, WOLLONGONG  

  Wollongong Harbour will transform into a festival with live and roving entertainment, amusement rides, and fireworks at this alcohol-free event. The stalls and free entertainment will begin at 5pm, with fireworks just before 10pm.

• Hydro-Majestic Hotel, BLUE MOUNTAINS

Ring in the New Year with stunning views of the Blue Mountains area from the Hydro-Majestic. They are putting on a 5-course degustation dinner with live entertainment for the family to enjoy. Cost: Adults $159 Child $65 U/12 are complimentary. 

VICTORIA

• Dromana 3 Drive-In, MORNINGTON PENINSULA

  Mornington Peninsula is the place to be on New Year’s Eve. Dromana 3 Drive-In will be hosting a ‘Double-feature movie night’, along with live entertainment, a playground for the kids and fireworks display. Cost: Adult $45 Concession $40 Child $30.

• Waterfront, GEELONG

You can enjoy an impressive firework display on the Geelong Waterfront, picnic-style. This event is pet friendly and free.  

SOUTH AUSTRALIA  

• Warland Reserve, VICTOR HARBOUR

  Kick off 2018 in style with family entertainment and Fireworks at Victor Harbour.

• Novotel Barossa Valley Resort, BAROSSA VALLEY

  The Novotel is offering travellers a buffet-style poolside dinner, commencing from 7pm. There will be a live DJ playing your favourite tunes of 2017. Cost: Adults $80 Child $65.

• New Year’s Eve Pageant, NORMANVILLE

Normanville is the place to be this New Year’s Eve. They will host a 40-float New Year’s Parade, followed by foreshore entertainment & Fireworks. The foreshore entertainment includes live music, amusements and food stalls, beginning from 7.30pm.  

WESTERN AUSTRALIA

• Vines Resort Café, SWAN VALLEY

  Vines is holding a family countdown evening, which includes a Pizza Buffet, kid’s activities and live music. Cost: Adults $55 Child $39.

• Thompson Bay, ROTTNEST ISLAND

Thompson Bay on Rottnest Island will host an impressive, free firework display from 9pm. Entertainment on the island also includes live music, roving entertainment.
