The first 2024 US Presidential debate between Donald Trump and Joe Biden was full of almost head turning moments.
From Trump ranting about being able to prevent the war in Ukraine, to Biden's confusion about Medicare, there were no shortages of cringe.
So Today Extra took a look back at other outrageous moments captured on live TV.
BBC guest's kids interrupt live interview
In 2017, Professor Robert Kelly's kids burst into shot during a live cross with the BBC.
The guest remained composed, but the look of panic on his wife's face as she scrambled to get the children out of the room made the video go viral.
It went off online with close to 60 million views on YouTube alone.
Wrong name read during Miss Universe 2015
Nothing compares to live awards shows.
In 2015, during the Miss Universe finals, it was down to Miss Colombia and Miss Philippines on who was going to win.
But after Miss Colombia was announced the winner and received her crown and bouquet of flowers, host Steve Harvey had to apologise and explain it was actually Miss Philippines who had won.
Similar thing happens during Australia's Next Top Model finale
Sarah Murdoch was visibly mortified when she read the wrong name out during the final of 2010's Australia's Next Top Model.
The host read out Kelsey Martinovich as the audience cheered, but minutes later she had to clarify it was actually Amanda Ware who had won.
Murdoch repeatedly apologised and explained the name was fed to her ear piece wrong.
Will Smith slaps Chris Rock at the Oscars
Fed up with presenter Chris Rock making Jada Pinkett Smith the butt of his jokes, Will Smith rushed onto the 2022 Oscars stage and smacked a grinning Rock across his face.
Rock took it in stride and Smith went on to win best actor for his role in King Richard.
But the impromptu assault was investigated by The Academy and Smith was banned from attending the awards ceremony for 10 years as a result.
Job candidate mistaken for BBC news guest
In 2006, a man named Guy Goma was applying for an IT job at the BBC, only to be mistaken for a segment guest.
As the host carried on with the interview, Goma's answers became more and more vague as confusion grew over what he was there for exactly.
La La Land misses out on an Oscar
Even Hollywood's most esteemed night is subject to a little controversy.
In 2017, the wrong envelope was read out at the 89th Academy Awards resulting in the cast and crew of La La Land taking to the stage to accept the Oscar for best picture.
But it turned out, Moonlight was the real winner, presenters Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway had accidentally read out the wrong name.
Know your names before you take to the stage
It was also at the Oscars where John Travolta butchered the name of the 2014 winner for best original song.
Frozen's Idina Menzel was the Academy Award winner for her song Let It Go, but her name is not what Travolta read out.
As he opened the envelope he announced "Adele Nazeem" as the winner, with the audience laughing as Menzel eventually took to the stage.
Ricky Gervais hosts the 2020 Golden Globes
Gervais is known for having no filter when it comes to his comedy, so getting him to host the 77th Golden Globe Awards was always going to be a risk.
The Brit took the opportunity to roast some of Hollywood's biggest names in his dialogue, even referencing a friendship with convicted sex trafficker, Jeffrey Epstein.
There were audible gasps in the crowd, but that is exactly what Gervais was going for.
BBC reporter falls in pool
In 2018, BBC Breakfast reporter, Mike Bushell was on the Gold Coast interviewing the UK Commonwealth Games swim team.
But as he stepped into the pool armed with his microphone, he misjudged and ended up going in.
