Karl challenges boxing champ Tim Tszyu to a fight

Aussie boxer Tim Tszyu is gearing up to take on undefeated International Boxing Federation champion, Bakhram Murtazaliev, this weekend in Florida.

And if the 29-year-old walks away as the victor of that fight, he already has his next bout lined up on his return to Australia.

Tim was discussing this Sunday's bout with Today this morning, when host, Karl Stefanovic challenged him to a fight.

"Hey, Timmy, if you if you win that fight, I'm prepared to take you on bro," a cocky Karl announced.

Karl is no stranger to the boxing ring, taking on Tim's dad, fellow boxing champion Kostya Tszyu and footballers-turned-boxers, Sonny Bill Williams and Paul Gallen over the years.

But Tim said he was ready to take on Karl whenever, wherever.

"Bro, talk is cheap - you got nothing, bro, you got nothing, I'm coming for you," he said.

But from the safety of his chair at the Today desk, all the way back in Sydney, Karl reminded Tim "I took your dad on and beat him and I'll take you on too son!"

"Ooh they are fighting words Karl," co-host, Sarah Abo said.

"Yeah, well... he's a long way away, he's on the other side of the world," Karl grinned.

Time will tell if Karl is still smiling when Tim returns home.

Tim takes on Bakhram Murtazaliev this Sunday, October 20, in the IBF Super Welterweight World Title.
