An Aussie furniture store is launching a national search to find the country's first "Chief Cushiness Officer".

The successful candidate will be required to test the comfort of a range of sofas made by Temple and Webster and will be paid an impressive $20,000 to literally sit on their bum for 20 days of work.

While this may sound like a dream job too good to be true, Today money expert, Effie Zahos said it is very real and the company is looking for someone "who really knows and appreciates a soft couch".

"It's a legitimate job and it is paying quite well, essentially they need you to sit on 200 couches across six months, so that's about $100 for each couch," she said.

"But you've also got to have the gift of the gab - it is based in Sydney, so you need to get those cheap airfares if you don't live there and you need to be active with social media posts, that's what they're looking for."

And if you are unsuccessful in applying for Temple and Webster's "Chief Cushiness Officer" role, Effie said there are other jobs out there that also reward for minimal effort.

"There are some interesting ones on Seek, if you love Lego, there are casual jobs out there that will pay around $30 an hour for you to colour coordinate bricks into packets," she said.

"And there's a lot in the market research area if you want to taste beer - or another option is testing prototypes, where you get actual goods or products and all they want you to do is sit around and test things at home."
