Dads find fun way to learn how to style daughters' hair

For a lot of dads out there, styling their daughter's hair is no mean feat.

But as much of a headache as it can be, sending your child to school not looking like a mess, a group of Melbourne dads are determined to learn how to brush, plait, braid and overall wow their daughters with their skills.

The braids and beers workshop took over Mr Miyagi's restaurant in Windsor last night and it was a huge success.

"A lot of my clients who are mums said mornings are busy, so it would be nice if dad can help make breakfast or do the kids' hair," hairdresser Joey Scandizzo told Today.

"Well I can't help them make breakfast but I can teach them how to do hairstyles."

So Joey set up a workshop with his friends at Mr Miyagi's, similar to paint and sip classes which have grown in popularity in recent years.

Only this time, he is teaching the five main hairstyles children are wearing these days.

"We are talking the ponytail, the ballet bun, the half up half down, the plait and the fishtail braid," Joey said.

"So we needed a hook and figured let's get some beers and food and let's get the lads in.'
