'Really concerned': Weekly bin collections under threat from fuel crisis
Weekly household bin collections for millions of people could be pushed back to fortnightly ones as the fuel crisis impacts the waste collection industry.
The warning comes from the executive director of the Waste Contractors and Recyclers Association of NSW, Brett Lemin, who spoke on Today this morning.
He says waste collection trucks are already finding it hard refuelling with diesel in the state's rural and regional areas as service stations run dry.

"We're really concerned we are not going to be able to pick up bins."
If shortages worsen in the weeks ahead, waste collection contractors would be forced to prioritise the collection of high-risk rubbish from places such as hospitals and nursing homes.
"We need to look across the board ... what is the priority."
One potential scenario could be weekly household waste bin collections scrapped and replaced with fortnightly services, Lemin said.
