You might remember a little while back when chicken salad in a bag was all the rage.

Well, we’ve moved on from that, past dinner-in-a-bag to dessert-in-a-bag. Turns out, it’s a lot of fun, so we think it’s worth trying.

From ‘walking desserts’ to lazy rocky road, this trend has us skipping the mixing bowls in favour of using the packaging our sweet treats arrived in.

Rocky road in a bag

This is peak “skip the washing up”. It’s easy, fun and so low-mess.

Ingredients

  • 1 bag marshmallows
  • 1 handful peanuts
  • 1 handful jelly lollies
  • 1 family sized milk chocolate block or bag of choc chips

Method

  1. Grab your bag of choc chips and sit the sealed pack in some boiling water for a couple of minutes until completely melted.
  2. Open the top of the marshmallow bag, add the peanuts and jelly lollies and give it all a shake.
  3. Cut the corner off your chocolate pack and squeeze the melted chocolate into the marshmallow bag. Squeeze it a bit to evenly spread the chocolate, then place in the fridge to set.
  4. To serve, peel the bag off and cut into chunks.

Chocolate Pringles in the tube

This is another excuse to add melted chocolate right into your favourite salty snack.

The salty-sweet combo is delicious, but it works best in a small tube and with the Pringles jumbled up a bit.

That way you’ll get plenty of salty crunch into the chocolate.

Ingredients

  • 1 x family block of milk Chocolate
  • 1 x small tube Pringles (original or salt & vinegar work well)

Method:

  1. Grab your block of chocolate and sit the sealed pack in some boiling water for a couple of minutes until completely melted.
  2. Meanwhile, open the Pringles and jumble them up in the tube a little.
  3. Cut the corner off your melted chocolate pack and squeeze it into the Pringles tube, filling to the top and jiggling to remove air bubbles.
  4. Place in the fridge to set, then peel off the Pringles cardboard tube and cut into discs or chunks to serve.

Banoffee ‘walking pudding’

“Walking” snacks, desserts and puddings are basically the trick of serving sweet treats using the individual bags they come in as bowls.

We’ve seen this done savoury style with ‘nacho bags’, but dessert bags are a whole new world of fun. Flavours are up to you, but banoffee is a great place to start.

Ingredients

  • Single serve bags of Tiny Teddies
  • 1 x can whipped cream
  • Custard
  • Banana, sliced
