Jacqui Lambie 'terribly concerned' for island state as vaccine blame game continues

Jacqui Lambie has expressed concerns over the "terribly slow" COVID-19 vaccine rollout in Tasmania as the blame game between the government and the EU continues.

The independent senator said the west coast of the state is facing "a massive problem" of supply shortages.

"We have per capita one of the oldest populations here on the north-west coast of Tasmania," she told Today.

"If we get a (COVID-19) spread again then that is going to be a real worry."

Senator Lambie's concerns come as Prime Minister Scott Morrison and the European Union engage in a war of words over the delayed rollout.

On Tuesday, Mr Morrison claimed over three million doses from overseas hadn't reached Australia's shores.

The European Union hit back and said it had only blocked the shipment of 250,000 doses to Australia in early March. Mr Morrison then denied criticising the European Union.

Senator Lambie said the blame game is not helping to fix the vaccine shortfall.

"I don't know what to believe anymore, and neither do many other people out there, and that's the problem," she said.

"That's not helping put trust in these vaccines whatsoever.

"Nothing seems to be going in the favour of the PM right now, especially with these vaccines.

"This whole giving out the vaccines around Australia is turning into an absolute cluster."
