Should the bin chicken be the Brisbane Olympics mascot?

An unlikely contender could end up being the official mascot of the 2032 Brisbane Olympic Games, with one Queensland MP suggesting the bin chicken should be considered.

Stirling Hinchcliffe, the Queensland Minister for Tourism, Innovation and Sport, told media yesterday he "has a soft touch" for the ibis, more commonly referred to as a bin chicken for its penchant for trying to scrounge food scraps from the garbage.

Today asked Queenslanders what their thoughts were on the controversial suggestion.

There is still a decade before the Brisbane Olympics arrive so there is still time for another frontrunner to take the lead as mascot.
