Who spends more money getting ready for a date?

New research has revealed single Aussies are spending a whopping $42 billion per year on dating.

The survey by ING suggested around $140 is spent on a date in 2022 and half of that goes toward getting ready before you head out.

This is four times more than what we were spending on dates just five years ago.

It looked at everything from what you wear, to hair, makeup and gifts and found men actually spend an average of $84 compared to women who spend around $67.

The data also showed people are going on more dates, with an average of three per month compared to one a month in 2017.

It showed around 45 per cent of men expect to pay for the date but 76 per cent of women want to split the bill.
