The iconic Aussie lamb summer campaign is back and this year it is tackling some pretty controversial subject matter.

The new commercial released this week follows the apocalyptic themes of previous years, but shows the likes of Gen Z and Baby Boomers looking past their differences and banding together over a common appreciation for the treasured Aussie barbecue.

National Lamb-assador and North Melbourne legend Sam Kekovich returns for the latest campaign and told Today in a world where "getting cancelled", NIMBYs and hating on any generation that isn't your own, "There's actually a lot more that unites us than divides us".

"It is a satirical look at the generational gap that's supposedly prevalent in our society," Sam said.

"If you look at pop culture, they will have you believe Boomers can't handle technology, Gen Z spend all their time creating dances for TikTok and the poor Millennials spend all their dough eating avo on toast and craft beer."

But Sam said the reality is there are things that bring everyone together, like iconic sporting heroes, beautiful Aussie landscapes and "the one constant that is always present, the iconic Australian barbecue".

"Loaded with great Australian lamb supplied by the true heroes of our nation, the Australian farmer," he said.

"And it is the most unifying catalyst in our society, is that Aussie BBQ with lamb, which brings all the factions together to forget all about our differences, no matter who you are."

In the latest ad, the Gen Zs inform the Boomers "we are literally perfect" while informing them they aren't using "gas-lighting" in the right context.

And when Sam makes his appearance towards the end, the Gen Zs have no idea who he is.

"Who is that?" one asks the other as they film the Earth remerging for their socials.

"Oh, that's John Howard," they reply.
