Aussie farmer goes viral after taking cow to the beach

They say cows can be one of the most stubborn animals on the farm, but maybe that’s just because they aren’t being spoiled as much as they could be.
One NSW farmer treated her highland cow, Matilda, to a beach visit, with video of the calf’s excitement going viral with 3 million views online.
Brooke Atkins and her cow Matilda surprised beachgoers with a visit. Today
The footage shows Matilda frolicking on the sand at Grants Beach, in North Haven NSW, chasing dogs and enjoying the sunshine and sound of the waves.
“That was her first trip ever to the beach and she absolutely loved it,” Matilda’s owner, Brooke Atkins, told Today.
“She jumped off the float, saw the water and just took off – I was surprised because cows can be stubborn.”
Atkins said she often takes her horses out on the float, but she started to feel guilty always leaving Matilda back at the farm.
“The double takes have been hilarious, but the most asked question we get is ‘how did I get Matilda here?’” she said.
“As much as I’d love to chuck her in the front seat of my car and sit her beside me – she does have to go in the horse float.”
Atkins admitted Matilda does have an adventurous personality and the calf, which was born in January this year, has even wandered into the house when the door was left ajar.
“I think she is just getting her summer body ready, but there will be plenty more trips to the beach I reckon,” she said.
