Now, a new documentary House of Hammer has revealed a family legacy of chilling events in the generations before him.

His aunt, Casey Hammer told Today Extra of a time her father shot at her as a child and the power her grandfather - and Armie's namesake - Armand Hammer had over people.

"This was my normal - people are horrified to hear of the time I was holding up a phone book and my father was shooting at me - I was 11-years-old but this was my normal," Casey told Today Extra.

"It was old money and there's a scary power that goes along with it.

"It's what I grew up with and was used to - they were proud of the fact they could buy anybody and everybody has a price.
