Gold Coast Titans player Beau Falloon’s cocaine charges dismissed

Gold Coast Titans player Beau Falloon has avoided cocaine charges in court today, with a magistrate deeming the evidence against him as too weak.

Fellow NRL players Greg Bird, Beau Falloon, Kalifa Faifai Loa, and Ash Harrison all attended Southport Magistrates Court today, accused of ordering cocaine from alleged drug baron John Touma.

The current and former Titans players were all arrested as part of a multi-million dollar drug trafficking investigation.

The court had heard Falloon and his teammate Jamie Dowling used coded language to organize drug deals via text messages.

A number of the text messages and intercepted phone calls were submitted to court by prosecutor Michael Copley.

Phrases used in the texts include “We're going to put a fair size order in”, “The real season starts now” and “I think me and Falloon just want to go halves in a ball”.

The prosecution also provided evidence of Falloon making a number of large cash withdrawals and police allege the players were planning drug-fuelled benders for the end of the NRL season.

“This is an extraordinarily weak case... It relies almost entirely on the absence of material,” Falloon's lawyer argued.

Chief Magistrate Christopher Callaghan agreed, ruling the texts were not evidence of a crime.

He decided the text messages were not strong enough and therefore not admissible for trial.

Fellow Titans players Greg Bird, Ash Harrison and Kalifa Faifai Lore will have to wait to see if they are also off the hook.

Chief Magistrate Callaghan has reserved his decision on their cases until tomorrow.

Their lawyers are claiming they have “no case to answer” to.
