Ticket booking fees forced to the front

Concert-goers shouldn't have to complain any more about hidden fees during the booking process, with two of the biggest ticketing retailers saying they've improved pricing practices.

After an Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) "drip pricing" investigation prompted by complaints about extra fees arriving late in the booking process, Ticketek and Ticketmaster say they have stepped into line.

Concerns arose because advertised prices were being inflated by additional charges "dripped" or incrementally disclosed throughout the purchase.

An ACCC spokesman said on Thursday companies must now state the total price of the good or service up front, including compulsory fees and charges.

While there may be additional undisclosed charges, these must not be compulsory.
