A Melbourne man will face court today after allegedly stabbing three people, including a man left fighting for his life in hospital.

The 24-year-old Clayton South man was tasered by police after a brief stand-off at Doveton, in the city's south-east, about 6.30am yesterday.

He has been charged with 29 offences including aggravated burglary, intentionally and recklessly causing serious injury and false imprisonment.

He appeared at an out-of-sessions court hearing yesterday and was remanded to appear in Melbourne Magistrates Court again today.

The alleged attack left a 25-year-old man in hospital in a critical condition and two women, aged 44 and 21, seriously injured.

One of the women tried to flee, running up the road to a neighbour's house while the alleged offender followed.

CCTV footage shows the suspect allegedly stalking one of his three victims, who can be seen walking backwards down a street.t.

All four people are believed to be known to each other but the exact circumstances are yet to be determined by police.
