Three men allegedly bashed in random daylight ambush in Melbourne

Three men have allegedly been horrifically bashed by a group of strangers in a broad daylight ambush in south-east Melbourne.

The victims were on Belvedere Court in Noble Park about 4.40pm yesterday when a black car pulled up beside them.

Four men, two from inside the car and two more on foot, approached the trio and began allegedly assaulting them, as seen on CCTV.

Police said one of the accused attackers was armed with a metal pole.

The alleged assault unfolded in front of shocked neighbours, including Jack, who was working from home at the time.

"You watch action movies and see fights and stuff but seeing that in real life, just right in front of your house, yeah it's a bit shocking for me," he told 9News.

About 10 minutes later, the alleged assault was over and emergency services arrived.

Two of the victims were taken to hospital while the third was treated at the scene.

Police said the accused attackers had been waiting peacefully by the side of the road and were arrested.

The four men - a 23-year-old from Noble Park, a 31-year-old from Wheelers Hill, a 32-year-old from Wheelers Hill and a 22-year-old from Beaconsfield - have been charged.

The group are currently all out on bail and will return to court in November.

Police have insisted the alleged attack was random.
