Single mother-of-four among three women killed in Marayong crash during police pursuit

A single mother-of-four from Mt Druitt is among three women who were killed in a crash during a police pursuit in Sydney's west last night.

Five people were in the car when it crashed into a power pole and split in half in Marayong about 1.15am.

Two women died at the scene, a third died at Westmead Hospital, and a man and a woman were also taken to hospital with serious injuries.

Single mother-of-four Roza Mawen was among those who died in the crash.

Ms Mawen leaves behind four children including an 18-month-old son, and her family have vowed to care for them. 

Police are believed to have tried to stop the Holden Commodore to conduct a breath-test when they saw it being driven without headlights about 1am.

It is understood the 43-year-old male driver accelerated away along Railway Road and officers briefly gave chase, with the car crashing shortly thereafter.

A critical incident investigation is underway.
