Thousands of toys found as police bust alleged shoplifting operation

Police on the Gold Coast have arrested four people after seizing two vans full of allegedly stolen toys, as well as drugs and firearms.

The items were allegedly found at a Gold Coast home police raided on November 11.

During the search, items believed to be linked to a sophisticated receipt-fraud scheme were also allegedly found.

Police allege the group produced counterfeit receipts resembling those from major retail stores and used them to unlawfully remove high-value items such as electrical appliances, bedding, homewares and toys.

The items were then allegedly sold online through social media accounts.

Detectives also allegedly uncovered methamphetamine, drug utensils and two firearms at the home. One firearm was later found to be a modified gel blaster.

All four occupants of the home were arrested and taken into police custody.

Police allege the group routinely drove unlicensed and used multiple vehicles to avoid police detection and that children were involved in the preparation and sale of stolen goods.
