Australia marks Remembrance Day in solemn services in Sydney, Melbourne and Canberra
Thousands across Australia have joined solemn services for Remembrance Day on the anniversary of the end of World War I.
Services honouring those lost in the line of duty were held in Australia and around the world.
At dawn this morning, the Sydney Opera House displayed poppies, the symbol of remembrance for WWI, on the sails.
They will be projected onto the opera house sails again tonight.
Governor-General Sam Mostyn presided over a ceremony at the Australian War Memorial in Canberra.
Members of the Royal Australian Navy, the Army, and Royal Australian Air Force conducted drills during the service.
As per tradition, the Ode was read and The Last Post was played before a period of silence.
Dignitaries and school children laid flowers at the wreath by the stone of remembrance.

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese also laid a wreath of flowers.
In Melbourne, a bugler played The Last Post outside Flinders Street Station.
A gun was fired at the Melbourne Shrine of Remembrance.
Flowers were also laid inside the shrine.
A service was also held at the Cenotaph in Sydney's Martin Place.
