Accused thief labelled Sydney's 'dumbest' criminal

On the run from Harvey Norman Liverpool with two iPads in his possession and two staff members in hot pursuit, a thief makes it out to the car park before being confronted.
He pulls out a pair of scissors, warning them: "I am desperate".
They back off but don't give up the chase.

Around 800 metres down the road, his car runs out of petrol.
