Thief flees onto a roof after alleged carjacking in Melbourne
A man has been arrested in Melbourne after spending 13 hours on a roof following an alleged carjacking.
The 36-year-old is accused assaulting a motorcyclist just after 5pm yesterday before stealing the bike in Sunshine.
Police were later called to a St Albans house where the man had climbed onto the roof just after 6pm.

The residents of the home were safely evacuated.
Police negotiated with the man for more than 10 hours and he eventually climbed down using a ladder 13 hours later and was arrested.
The 36-year-old St Albans man has been taken to hospital under police guard.
