When it comes to Sydney property, luxury usually comes with an enormous price tag – but it is possible to get resort-style living without breaking the bank.

Penrith is the cheapest at $363,000, while Bankstown is also under $500,000.

Meanwhile, in Erskineville – just six kilometres from the city – the median unit price is still below the $700,000 threshold.

New developments of up to $750,000 are attractive to buyers as owners can still be eligible for the first homebuyer’s grant.

Developments of up to $550,000 give the owner exemption concessions on stamp duty, some of which are still available up to $650,000.
