Popular western Sydney restaurant and wedding venue collapses into administration days before Christmas
A popular western Sydney restaurant and wedding venue has collapsed just days before Christmas.
The Orchard in Penrith has appointed administrators following a tough period of trade, citing "challenging market conditions" and less customer spending.
Graeme Beattie from Worrells was appointed administrator by The Orchard's owners.

He said The Orchard would continue operating as normal as he takes an "urgent" look at the venue's books.
"This decision comes after a period of challenging market conditions, including rising operational costs, changing consumer behaviour, and reduced discretionary spending, which have all contributed to an unsustainable financial position," Beattie said.
"Whilst the administration is in its infancy, I intend to trade the company's business on a 'business-as-usual' basis."

Company director Fedlallah Hallini described the decision to appoint administrators as an "incredibly difficult one".
"Whilst this is a challenging time, we remain committed to exploring all options to ensure the future of the business," he said.
In a message shared to Instagram, The Orchard told customers it would remain fully operational.

"We are grateful for the ongoing support of the Penrith community and hope to remain a venue where you can celebrate your special occasions for many years to come," the statement read.
The Orchard opened just two years ago and plays host to weddings, engagement parties, baby showers and corporate events.
It has a restaurant, cafe and bar at its Jamisontown location.
