The new drug free solution for migraine sufferers

A new device is proving to be the key to helping migraine sufferers – and helping them to go drug-free.

Nerivio Migra is a device that’s strapped around the arm and generates mild electrical pulses to active nerve fibres.

These send signals to the brain to produce a general analgesic effect.

A small pilot study in Israel found that pain was halved in nearly two-thirds of patients who used it, and greater still when applied to patients who used it within the first 20 minutes of experiencing pain.

“These early results on this device look very promising and certainly patients are very interested in non-drug devices and also of course non painful ones which this device is,” Dr Nicole Limberg told 9NEWS.

The pilot study only included people who experienced between two and eight migraines a month.
