Terrifying near miss as truck swings around on highway

Shocking footage has captured the moment a jacknifing truck nearly wiped out a trail of vehicles on a major highway.

The incident took place on the Hume Highway southwest of Sydney this morning.

The truck driver had just re-entered the highway when its brakes appeared to lock up, sending the vehicle sprawling across both lanes of traffic.

A car just behind the truck was forced to drive off the road to avoid crashing.

All lanes were blocked for a short time before the driver could move the truck to off the side of the road.

The driver was shaken but not injured.
