Teens arrested after Melbourne man allegedly threatened with machete

A man has been allegedly threatened with a machete after four teenagers smashed the window of a vehicle parked in the driveway of a Melbourne home.

Police arrested the teens following the vehicle damage at the Orange Grove property in Bayswater about 9.15pm yesterday.

The owner of the property, a 52-year-old man, confronted the group before one of the teens allegedly threatened him with the machete.

The man retreated inside his home and called triple zero, while all four boys fled the scene.

"Police, along with the assistance of the Canine Unit arrested the boys in the vicinity of Sasses Avenue a short time later," a Victoria Police statement said.

Police allege at least five vehicles were damaged by the group as they walked along Bona Vista Road and Terama Crescent between 9.15 and 9.30pm.

All four teens, including a 16-year-old from Boronia, two 15-year-olds and a 17-year-old from Bayswater, are expected to be charged with criminal damage and weapons offences.
