Five teenagers have been arrested, including two 13-year-olds, after being pursued by police for over 40km at speeds of more than 140km/h in Melbourne's southwest last night.

Police tried to stop a stolen red Nissan Pulsar sedan travelling east on Blackshaws Road in Altona North about 9.25pm last night, the Herald Sun reports.

The driver, a 17-year-old boy from Lalor, reportedly sped away with police pursuing the car onto the Princes Freeway.
