Teen killed while walking dog along Queensland highway

A young woman has died after she was hit by a car her while walking along a highway in Queensland’s north.

The 19-year-old and her friend were walking their dogs along the Bruce Highway between Ayr and Brandon when the car hit her around 7pm yesterday night, police said.

The driver of the car, a 52-year-old man, was believed to have been overtaking another vehicle at the time of the crash.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Bruce Highway has been reopened and the Forensic Crash Unit is investigating.
