A teenager has been hailed as a hero after pulling a 44-year-old man from a burning house in Sydney’s west.

Nabil Bardouh, 17, put his own life at risk to run into the house when he saw the fire, calling to see if anybody was inside.

It is believed resident Nenig Htun was asleep in bed and woken by Nabil’s shouts.

David Inskip from NSW Fire and Rescue praised Nabil’s actions in getting Mr Htun out of the house.

Nenig was taken to Auburn Hospital with smoke inhalation.

Investigators have now been tasked with discovering the cause of the fire, but the extent of the damage could prolong the investigation.

Nabil, who is hoping to become an engineer, will now be considered for a bravery award.
