Teen charged with Gold Coast schools fires

A teenage boy has been charged with lighting fires inside the classrooms of two Gold Coast schools.

The fires started on Wednesday and Friday nights caused smoke, water and fire damage before being put out by emergency services.

Police said offensive graffiti was left on the wall of one of the schools.

A 17-year-old male will appear in Southport Magistrates Court on Tuesday charged with arson and a number of other offences.
