Teachers secure 'historic' pay rise from NSW government
New South Wales teachers will soon receive their largest pay rise in decades as the state government attempts to tackle the ongoing educator shortage.
Education Minister and Deputy Premier Prue Car has announced the Teachers Federation Council voted to endorse the offer from the NSW government.
Starting salaries will increase from $75,791 to $85,000, while those at the top of the scale will rise from $113,042 to $122,100.

The new agreement, which will affect 95,000 teachers across the state, will come into effect on October 9.
The government claims it's the biggest pay rise teachers will have had in "almost three decades" in NSW.
"I am so proud that today we are able to give teachers the pay rise they so urgently deserve," Car said.

NSW Teachers Federation acting president Henry Rajendra said the "historic" advance was won by the "tireless" campaigning from teachers.
"Teachers will benefit from this agreement which will immediately begin tackling the teacher shortage," he said.
