Tattoo may hold key to identifying Melbourne sex attacker

Police have released new composite images in their hunt for a man involved in a sex assault and burglary in Croydon, Melbourne, last year, and believe a distinctive tattoo could help find him.

Detectives are continuing to appeal for information after the man entered the Abraham Drive house and sexually assaulted a 20-year-old woman in front of her daughter on August 4, 

During the assault, the man fled the house when the woman managed to phone Triple Zero (000), but a police search of the surrounding area failed to find him, Victoria Police said in a statement.

Today, Detective Senior Constable Mark Justice said it was concerning that the offender has not been identified.

“It’s a very disturbing offence when an offender randomly attacks a woman in her own home with a child present, and potentially gets away with it,” he said.

Detectives also released a facial composite image of a man they wish to speak to about the attack.

He is described aged in his early 20s, with light brown skin and white braces on his upper and bottom teeth.

He had hair shaved on the sides and longer on the top, and an eyebrow piecing in his right eyebrow.

The victim told police that he also had a distinctive tattoo on his left upper arm, and possibly one on the back of his neck partially hidden by his shirt collar.

At the time of the assault he was wearing a white t-shirt, black jeans and a red jacket.
